1 · What is WatchPick?

WatchPick is a personal cinema discovery app for people who care about what they watch. It shows films streaming in India right now, filtered by your taste, with verified availability across 18 platforms.

Built for world cinema, philosophy films, critically acclaimed titles, music documentaries, brilliant screenplays, and visually extraordinary cinema — with everything double-checked against real, up-to-date streaming information for India.

Access: watchpick-dun.vercel.app →

2 · Getting Started
Install on your phone
1
Open in Chrome
Go to the WatchPick URL → in Chrome on your phone.
2
Add to Home Screen
Chrome menu (⋮) → Add to Home Screen → Add. WatchPick appears on your home screen and opens full-screen.
3
Set up Cloud Sync
My List → Cloud Sync panel → enter a passphrase → tap Save ↑. Use same passphrase on any device to Load ↓ your list.
Always open WatchPick from your home screen icon or saved bookmark — never from a copy of the page you've downloaded to your phone.
3 · The Three Tabs
Discover
Search
Search bar — title, director, or actor. Gold person card appears for people — tap for their India filmography. Tap the mic icon to search by speaking instead of typing. Show me →
Alerts
Notification bell, top of the Discover header — WatchPick quietly checks your Want to Watch list in the background and lets you know here, not as a one-shot popup, the moment one of them becomes newly available to stream or rent, or upgrades from Rent/Buy to included-with-subscription. The badge shows how many alerts you haven't read yet; tap the bell any time to open the panel, and Clear all resets it. Show me →
Filters
Tap Filters, next to Search, to open Genres, Language, Sort, and Availability — narrows whatever feed you're looking at without leaving Discover. See The Filter Bar → for the full breakdown. Show me →
Films / Both / Series
Toggle above the search bar — narrow Discover to movies only, TV series only, or both together. In Both, every card in Your Curation carries a small "Film" or "Series" tag next to its year so a mixed feed stays easy to scan — the tag drops away in Films-only or Series-only mode since it'd just repeat what the toggle already tells you. Show me →
Masters
Masters of Cinema — curated row of directors, writers, and cinematographers grouped by taste: Contemplative, World Cinema, Indian Cinema, Visual Craft, Screenplay, Cinematography. Always visible, no tapping required — the theme tags and the Contemplative theme's portraits show right away. Tap another theme to switch to its portraits, then tap any thumbnail to open that person's full India-available filmography, where you can tap ☆ Favourite to make them a seed for Because You Liked too (see Search → for more on Favouriting). Show me →
Liked
Because You Liked — built from crew and cast overlap with your own Liked and Want to Watch titles, not an opaque algorithm: every card names exactly who connects it back ("because you liked X — also directed by Y" or "also stars Y"), so you can judge the recommendation for yourself instead of just trusting it. Right below Masters of Cinema. Before you've Liked or Want-to-Watch'd anything, this section shows a short note instead of a grid — it fills in automatically the moment you mark your first title. Favourited cast/crew (see Masters, above) feed this too, even before you've liked a specific film of theirs. Show me →
Soon
Upcoming From Who You Liked — same idea as Because You Liked, but looking forward: directors, writers, and actors from your Liked/Want to Watch titles who have something with a real, dated release still to come. Each card shows the release month and names exactly who connects it back, same as Because You Liked. Only counts titles with an actual announced date — "in production" with no date yet isn't shown. Right below Because You Liked; same empty-state note until you've Liked or Want-to-Watch'd something. Show me →
New
New on Streaming — films added to Indian streaming in the last 60 days. Right below Upcoming, above Your Curation — loads on its own, with its own Refresh button. Every card has the same Want / Liked / Seen / Not Interested quick actions as Discover, right on the poster. Once you've marked something Liked, Seen, or Not Interested, it won't keep reappearing here as if it were still new — Want to Watch is the one status that stays visible, same as it does in Your Curation. If you want recency inside your main feed instead, use the Newest or Newest + Rated sort in Your Curation below. Show me →
Curation
Your Curation — the main feed, built from your Settings genres/platforms plus anything Filters narrows it to further. The Sort dropdown right above the grid picks the order — Mix, Rating (the default), Year Newest, Year Oldest, Newest + Rated, or Title A–Z — the same list Filters' own Sort offers, just one tap away instead of opening the sheet. Refresh sits beside it for a fresh batch under your current filters, and Load Page ↓ at the bottom brings in more without starting over. Show me →
Refresh
Fresh batch for your current filters.
Load Page ↓
Next page of results — genuinely new titles.
Every card has its own quick-action row — bookmark (Want), star (Liked), check (Seen), eye-slash (Not Interested), right from Discover with no need to open the detail page. Hover any icon on desktop, or long-press it on a touchscreen, to see what it means. Every poster also carries two more signals at a glance — see Availability tags in Tag Reference →. Show me →
My List
Shows: Want to Watch
Want to Watch is always front and center here, with its own Sort (Recently Added, Top Rated, Newest, A–Z) — it never collapses. Liked and Seen each get a small chip beside the header, showing a count only when that bucket has titles; tap one to expand its grid right above the Want to Watch list, and tap "Want to Watch" itself to collapse both back down in one tap. Not Interested isn't listed anywhere — it just affects what Discover shows you (see Tag Reference). Show me →
Favourites
A fourth chip beside Liked and Seen, listing everyone you've Favourited from a filmography page (☆ on a director, writer, actor, or cinematographer's own page — see Masters, above). Tap the chip to expand the list right there; unlike Liked/Seen this isn't about a title you've watched, it's people whose work you want WatchPick to keep surfacing in Because You Liked.
Sync
Save ↑ backs your list up online. Load ↓ brings it down on any device, using the same passphrase.

4 · The Filter Bar Show me →

Tap Filters next to the search box to open Genres, Language, Sort and Availability — instant filters without going into Settings.

Film Genres
All / None + a button for every genre you've turned on in Settings. Tap one to switch it on or off — gold means active. Shown whenever you're browsing Films or Both.
Series Genres
Its own All / None + a button per TV genre. Only appears when you're browsing Series or Both — these genres aren't in Settings, this is the only place to choose them. Genres that mean the same thing on both sides (Action, Comedy, Crime, Sci-Fi, and a few others) stay in sync automatically when you tap a Film Genre, so Series doesn't keep showing everything while Films is narrowed down. Genres unique to Film (Philosophy, World Cinema, Superhero and the like) don't have a Series match — adjust Series Genres here separately for those.
Lang
Filter the current feed by original language instantly — and pick more than one at once, even across groups (Tamil from India + Korean from International together, for example). Grouped by country instead of one long list — tap the "India" or "International" chevron to expand it for Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi and Gujarati, or English, French, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, German, Persian, Turkish, Portuguese, Swedish, Polish, Danish, Mandarin and Arabic. Tapping a language toggles it on/off and keeps its group open so your picks stay visible. Tapping the group name itself (not the chevron) selects every language in that group at once — tap it again to clear the whole group. Selecting every language in BOTH groups at the same time is treated as the same thing as "All Languages" and snaps back to it automatically, since a real "everything" is faster and more complete than picking every language you see individually. "All Languages" itself clears every specific pick everywhere.
Sort
Defaults to Top Rated. Options: Top Rated, Mix, Newest, Oldest, Newest + Rated, A–Z. Mix pulls from the same well-rated pool as Top Rated but shuffles instead of ranking — useful for variety once you've already narrowed with filters, rather than seeing the identical ranked list every time. Changing sort restarts from Page 1.
Avail
All, Stream (subscription) only, or Rent/Buy only.
Reset
Top-right of the sheet — clears every filter back to its default in one tap.
Show Results
Bottom button — closes the sheet and returns to your updated Discover feed. Tapping outside the sheet does the same.
Newest + Rated: fetches by year descending, then sorts by rating within each year — best for recent acclaimed films.

Where to Watch
Every India platform with Stream or Rent/Buy tags. The small text under each button (e.g. "Available in India · Opens Netflix Search") sets expectations before you tap — it opens that platform's search, not the title directly, since platforms don't support deep-linking to a specific title from outside their own app.
IMDb →
Opens the film's official IMDb page directly, when one is available. Useful for reviews from a wider audience, parental guidance, and fuller cast/crew credits.
Letterboxd →
Opens Letterboxd → search for that exact film. Letterboxd is a dedicated film community of nearly 30 million users who rate on a 5-star scale (with half-stars). Its ratings run 0.3–0.5 stars colder than the rating you see in WatchPick, because the audience takes film seriously — making it the most trustworthy rating source for world cinema, philosophy films, and arthouse titles. A film rated 4.0 on Letterboxd by 200,000 film lovers is a stronger signal than an 8.2 in WatchPick's own rating from a general audience. Tap to read reviews and see what dedicated film watchers think before you commit your evening.

🕒 Recently added
Shown on the detail page (not in feed cards) when a title's listed network/producer is a platform we track, but that platform hasn't shown up yet in the live India availability check — common for very new releases, since India catalog data usually lags a title's release by days to weeks. Comes with a direct link to check that platform yourself.
Status icons
Want to Watch (bookmark) — saved to My List
Liked It (star) — gold border on card, surfaces similar titles in More Like This, and shows up in My List under the Liked chip. Since liking something means you've already seen it, it also drops out of Discover going forward — same as Seen.
Already Seen (check) — removed from Discover, shown in My List under the Seen chip. Tap its card there to open the detail page and tap the check again to undo — no need to search for it separately anymore.
Not Interested (eye-slash) — excluded from Discover. Unlike Liked and Seen, not listed anywhere in My List — undo by finding it again via Search and tapping the icon again.

Favouriting them makes their other work a seed for Because You Liked too, even before you've liked anything of theirs specifically. Everyone you've Favourited is listed under its own chip in My List, alongside Liked and Seen.

Load ↓ on new device
My List → enter passphrase → Load ↓. Full list restored instantly.
Passphrase is case-sensitive (capital and lowercase letters count as different). No recovery if forgotten — pick something memorable.
Collision protection
Anyone using the exact same passphrase would otherwise share the same online record. WatchPick now checks the passphrase before every Save the first time it's used on a device: if it already holds a different list, you'll get a warning with the title count and last-saved time, so you can Cancel and pick another passphrase (or Load ↓ that list instead) rather than accidentally overwriting someone else's.
9 · Tips
Start narrow
Tap None then pick just one or two genres for a more focused feed.
Mark Seen
Tap ✓ on anything you have already watched — it never appears again in Discover.
Use ★ Liked
More Like This on any Liked film surfaces similar India-available titles.
Tap the director
See every film of theirs available in India right now.
New on Streaming
Always up top now, right above Your Curation — use its own Refresh for the latest.
Newest + Rated
Best sort for recent acclaimed films.
For every film in WatchPick — especially world cinema, philosophy, and critically acclaimed titles — tap "View on Letterboxd" on the detail page. Letterboxd uses a 5-star scale rated by nearly 30 million dedicated film watchers. Its scores run colder than the rating you see in WatchPick (a 3.8 on Letterboxd is genuinely good; a 4.2 is exceptional). Read the short reviews — they are written by people who watch 200+ films a year, not casual viewers. For the genres WatchPick covers, Letterboxd is the most honest measure of whether a film is worth your time.
Save often
Tap Save ↑ after every marking session — your list is then safe on all devices.
10 · FAQ
My list disappeared

You likely cleared your phone's storage for the browser, or opened a saved copy of the page instead of the real one. Open the real WatchPick address → My List → enter passphrase → Load ↓.

A film I know is on Netflix is not showing

We check streaming availability using a trusted tracking service →. Streaming rights change often, so very recently added titles can take a day or two to show up correctly.

Trailers are not playing

Trailers only work on the real WatchPick address — not a downloaded copy of the page. If it says "Video unavailable", the studio has blocked it from playing here; find it directly on YouTube →.

Feed keeps showing same titles

Tap Load Page N ↓ for new pages. If many titles are marked Liked, Seen, or Not Interested they are filtered out — use Refresh for a completely fresh batch.

YouTube shows Rent/Buy when I think it should be Stream

Our streaming-info source doesn't always correctly flag YouTube Premium titles as included with your subscription, so they can show as Rent/Buy even when they're actually free to stream on Premium. That's a limitation of that data source, not a WatchPick bug — some titles do show correctly as Stream.
